The Cup We Shared

With our sharing
Our cup was filled
With our parting
half full soon it will be empty
Our cup drained
left with solitude
in this house which
saw so much living
you will become memory
Your fiery blaze
filled my heart
that memory will fade
You were a gift
a gift of life
I'm grateful
Grateful for what could be expressed
Grateful coming closer the mystery of our sex
Grateful knowing you exist as you do
Grateful seeing possibilities of what could be
Humbly standing before life
thankful for the cup
we were given
my life
where is it going?
Where is your life going?
The map I see
has many roads
many journeys
we may find each other
on the same road
memories turn to dreams
Any way the wind blows
Our days were lived
what was required was done
What more could be asked?
What more could be said?
We turned rainy days
into sunshine and bliss
from within
we lighted new ways
May you always have a space
where you can be free,
Clean air to breathe
where water finds your roots,
sunshine you will blossom
your beauty
our giving
our loving
once again
I've changed,
I am no longer who I was
touching the grounds
what will always be
common ground
beneath all striving
all living, all loving, all dying
As I lie in my room at night
Static in the air
It is thick
cutting through
Our presence
Together now
Fades away
