Crossing Bridges
I gave a strange woman my trembling lips
Now ending, sap released will begin
when the cold night returns
I was thirteen, age of innocence, pure love
My heart moves consecrated by memories
A musician stumbles across river treasures
I find myself a tree in divine happiness
Released from the human species prison
Listening an owl hoots against the sky
A naughty star melts me home in gentleness
evening trumpets sounds return
You say, "In love, there is both good and evil."
horror in the holy lands we worship
wicked fool neglects chaos living within
Behold a bridge, I am afraid to cross
sun pushes me on and moon smiles
Crossing the bridge I look back
seeing dreams let go
they fade opening spacious freedom
letting go of clinging they push away
A wise tree speaks "Welcome home."
In the distance, the owl watches
In a flash of snowflakes
Owl soars to the moon
These words danced my way late at night on September 29, 2020. I caught them in a net. The words became doves which I released. Dreams soared with joy in the sky, and the bridge was crossed.
Home, at last, I, David Penn Trinley Arndt, fell asleep smiling, knowing it was all a dream.
