The White Noise of Life

The White Noise Of Life

***

I dreamed I was lost in the white noise of life Exhausted and shivering in vain attempted to fall back to sleep
My heart was filled with ghosts and frothy babbling gore
My eyelids lowered as I fell into austere slumbers

Dreamlike she looked blindly at me with eyes of a wild beast
She was naked in a shuttered house where the beaten weep
Her tears were a silken avalanche of sorrow
As her heart lit up with the sadness of the moon
I wanted to comfort and hold her in my arms

Making the ritual sacrifice I dropped into a spiraling funnel and drank from a cesspool of blood
The spirit with eyes of wild coffins left her
Black poison vanished into cracks on a green plain

Great dark skeletons weeping danced upon blueish gray roofs of sorrow
Night fell into an abyss of rotting TV dinners from the 70's
White phantoms left in smoke rings streaming from her nostrils

As her flower pedals unfolded her eyes glittered with diamonds
Holding her we blossomed in the blue azure sky
Moon dreamed as ancient plagues left her heart Dawn's light touched the sky
Her branches no longer ached

With eyes glimmering sunbeams she kissed me warming my heart with fire
Our loneliness vanished into a wasteland where sorrow is forgotten forever more
Angels descended entrusting us with keys to the stars

Our spirits soared to the heavens
Silent words spoke blazing shooting stars
Looking down upon the green earth we cradled it lovingly in our arms
Laughing  black holes swallowed all darkness as we fell to earth

Returning to Pittsburgh we headed out West in a Volkswagen bus which repeatedly broke down
We opened a restaurant somewhere in New Mexico serving bad Mexican food
Each bite made hearts sing with pure gaseous joy

After thirty years we went bankrupt as space and time collapsed
Becoming one with all that is and all that will be we put up an "out of business" sign
Finding ourselves in the Lower East Side of NYC we awoke from the dream

Homeless holding hands we collected old beer cans for a meal to eat
We laughed discovering the cheap Mexican food in NYC is far worse than out West
Now old and toothless our hearts were full of joy

As our life force faded we fell together into a grave somewhere up north
Realizing we were in the gentle Green Mountains of Vermont we held hands as we let go of this precious life

Decaying with love our spirits soared to an abandoned space station orbiting earth
Its life force spent it fell crashing into the crystalline waters thirty miles south of Key West

Returning to the grave we dissolved into the sacred earth
"On the Road" we "Headed to "another joint" ready for the next adventure
