Playing Jazz With Keroac Down At The Crossroads
***
He ran out of
Minds mirror
Found he was
In the South
Playing
Dixie band jazz
Making a deal
At the crossroads
He threw everything away
Found Kerouac
in his lunch bag
Playing jazz
A willowy woman
Made a meaningless
Proposition
No one understood
She did not see
Hitler coming
The Führer got high
Started drinking.
He said what is
Most important is
immortality and space
Speechless
The man and woman
Melted away
Into history
And hid
But Keouac
Tells Jeff Tweedey
"You bring it all home"
Jeff plays it cool
"Saxophone started
Blowing us down"
Kerouac smiles
Gets a beer
Calls mom
Tells her
He loves her
He will be out late
The beers are on Jack
Everyone is Passed Out
Until dawn's
Majestic
Silence
Melodiously
Awakens
