Calling On Poets Of Old
Calling On Poets Of Old
***
The world will end
It could be soon
Humanity it drinks
A foul poison brew
The poison is ancient
We are lost unaware
Humanities caught
In ignorance's snare
I make incantations
Casting poetry spells
Call forth divine spirit
Ringing true love's bell
All poets are warriors
Our poems battle hate
With faith in loves power
It need not be too late
The forgotten poets of old
We must call on and revive
Their poems dispel poison
May the poets soon arrive
I won't give up on love
Though my spirit tired
Know with poets of old
True love never expires
Oh, Homer and Ginsberg
Prophets Dylan and Blake
Your poems winds howl
Dispelling earths heartache
Calling on poets of old
Rain down poems fire
Dispel poisons darkness
Keep us strong inspired
Calling on poets of old
Cast out our depression
Cast out hopelessness
Poisons deep Nihilism
We battle with words
We fight for true love
We struggle to inspire
Let our love rise above
I call on all love poets
Time to take up the call
poetry can defeat hatred
The world need not fall
Yes, my poems fall short
So I call on poets of old
Dispel the world's sorrow
With poems not yet told

Written by David Penn Trinley Arndt on May 20th, 2022, when he was feeling despair and depression over the fate of the earth and all sentient beings. I know I am no true poet, so I supplicate the poets of old. May their love rain down poems of fire and dispel the darkness of these times. I pray it may be so.
