She Passes
She Passes
***
There was a girl I once knew
She came and went
As the winds blew
Behind her smile
Was a secret sorrow
Here today gone tomorrow
I knew the risks
But I did not care
Though the signs said beware
Even when
The fall would come
I questioned if it all was done
Who was this girl?
A sweet mystery
I wished only to see her free
I drank the poison
From a sacred cup
Thinking love was enough
To heal all wounds
From years gone by
So painful she cannot cry
I gave her friendship
I gave her trust
In the end it turned to dust
I ask myself
Can we know anyone?
When the day is finally done.
Do we only see
Our own projections?
A broken mirrors reflection
Are there wounds
That never heal?
That we will always feel?
Is there love?
Is it real?
Is there a sacred seal?
These answers are a mystery
Humbled and blind I cannot see
I think it's time to let it be
I think it's time to go free
Into the great mystery
Into the great mystery
