At Rest Under Valley Slumbers

At Rest Under Valley Slumbers

***

She sits in her rocker knitting

He's in the wood shop tinkering

He comes in

She says,

"Did you turn the lights out?"

Inside he smiles

She's said that every night for 50 years

***

So many years

So many memories

Dreams went by fast

Our children grew up

Had their own children

Far far far away

***

Deep in the

Winter of life

My dear

Precious wife

Your always there

We hold each other

In the night

Keeping each other warm

Until mornings sunlight

***

We never will

Say goodbye

Our loves survived

Ravages of time

We know in life

We've been blessed

We lived loved

No regrets

***

So when it's time

An old Death

Comes a callin

Have no sorrow

Let go of us

Have no fear

For tomorrow

Have thee

No worries

We're at peace

Enveloped within

Warm gentle

Breezes

Protected by

Loving

Spirit

At rest

Down

Under

Valleys

In

Beautiful

Peaceful

Valley

Slumbers
