Under Poisonous Skies

Vermont Skies 
Pass near
Not the Skies 
Of yesteryear
Swam in lakes
Schools of fish in youth
Fish are gone
Underwater Forest
Green and Lush 
Vibrant with life
Faded away 
With time

Why is humanity
Oblivious 
To nature's cycles
Must it be this way
We've gone far astray

Is this destructive, nature, hardwired? 
Raging violent fires
Malicious desires

The world
It bleeds and screams
Nightmares, instead of Dreams

As a species, we're lost
Earth and other beings pay the cost
Children of the future cry

Might not see blue skies 
Holding space. 
For love
Even under
Darkened
Skies

Listening to the arid breeze
Hearing no one sing 
Skin is scorched.
Voice husk

Make my way across the desert 
Scavenging, from a dead dream world 

Making my way through life
Making my way through death
Under poisonous Skies
Always holding space for
Love

Missing Self *** Yikes, my family has become concerned by my inability to find any solid fixed self, what to do? Best to keep quiet about my suspicion of their lack of inherent self. And who or what has been doing this searching and looking anyhow, like a gerbil spinning on a wheel? Those Buddhists,  I tell you, they appear so peaceful  (sometimes ) but are secretly a radical group of self deniers, how wonderfully subversive.  Maybe I have been a Buddhist all along and just realized it. But then I look for the Buddhist and Bam!  Same problem, there's nothing there. I must confess enjoying my nonexistent self today, uh oh, that could mean trouble.
