Drinking Absinthe With Rimbaud

Drinking Absinthe With Rimbaud

***

Ran into my
Dear friend Rimbaud
Drinking absinthe
We were talking
Bout why he gave up
Absinthe and poetry
And went off to Mother
Africa walking

I said we both know the truth
Why you let go of your past
The muse she had soared
You knew it wouldn't last

Like you Rimbaud
My Poems I do not write
Words came of their own
Spontaneously from within
From my muses inner light

Following in your Footsteps
I sure as hell
Deranged my senses
Tripping
Breaking through
Space and time
With Rilke and Dylan
Playing with the ladies
Of their love
Which I enjoyed
Sipping

Oh with you Rimbaud
Together we do soar on
Wings of consonants vowels
We open Poetrys doors

Like how you lived Rimbaud
My life experiences been wild
I Never listened to anyone
Always was a wayward child

I went out to the edge
Pushed my
Pedal to the limit
Until my wings
Melting in the sun
Dissipated
Into pure spirit

Like poets of old
I too went insane
Falling into the abyss
Till death do us part
Drinking from Life's
Bitter sweet kiss

Making love
To this worldAnd beyond
Living from Deep within
Dining on experience
Like you I've known my
Fair shair of sin

When my muse
She leaves
I too will depart

With nothing
Left to do
Together
Friend

We will
Wander
Mother
Africa's
Lonely
Bygone
Highways

Leaving
Behind
Our
Broken
Poets
Hearts
