Lost Lonely Bird Soars
The Lost Lonely Bird Soars
***
Lonely bird feels lost
He can't fly
He is not understood
Lonely bird cries
Lonely bird asks why?
As humans fight walking by
Not hearing children's cries
Lonely bird is sad
Knows all beings someday must die
Why is it so hard for them to love?
Why do they hurt each other so
Lonely bird does not know
The sky above
Where he once flew
Is no longer blue
His song is not heard
He sees others alone passing away
Lonely bird feels pain
Lonely bird feels grief
Lonely bird dreams he could soar
As he once did before
But it is not true
Lonely bird finds it hard to try
He no longer wishes to fly
Lonely bird is blue
He does not know what to do
He lives to love
And be loved
But no one comes to play
If they do they do not stay
Lonely bird tries so hard
As night turns to day
He is tired
He grows old
Looks down on human graves
Lined up with many names
Of those forgotten to time
Lonely bird can't understand
As a plague spreads across the land
He begins to pray
For all suffering beings
Who face deaths waves
Deep beneath the sea
Why do they kill their world?
Why do they not see?
Life is too precious to waste
On chasing after things not real
Lonely bird only trusts love
For him it is the sun
But he now sees clouds
His heart is brittle
Like when he was little
The skies were blue and clear
Now it is smoke and tears
Dust and rotting graves
Forgotten times
Lost melodies
Broken hearts
Dead languages
Scars and blood
Bodies in mud
Bloated and green
Remain unseen
Why are humans often mean?
They could be kind
He knows some who are
But they are few and far
The world is upside down
Burning cities and towns
They begin to cut down his tree
It is the last and final tree
He holds his chick close
His baby should be able to play
He hides her from the horror
His burden feels heavy
Dreaming of stars above
Foreign shores and other worlds
Where love is the norm
He takes flight into the storm
Into the hate, violence, hearts broken and torn
Through darkness past the graves
The broken children who can't play
Whose world is passing away
He soars thru the darkest sorrow
But still has hope for tomorrow
His vulnerable heart is brave
Not afraid of stormy waves
Not afraid of death
Or of his final breath
Not afraid of pain
Or the driving rain
He will always fly above
Never give up on love
No matter what may come
The warrior bird will live on
Singing his lonely song
Because inside he is strong
It takes courage to cry
Soaring on wings anew
He knows now what to do
For love alone he lives
His chick leaves the nest unafraid
We must all learn how to give
Fear not to sing our song
We must soar on wings of a dove
Fly without fear above
Rediscover our hearts within
And never give up
On love
***
